bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question, but to answer it in short, you’ll get a lot. final shot count depends on things like how many guests you have, how much you’ve got planned, and how crazy things get. with all that in mind, i typically deliver ~100 all killa, no filla shots per hour of coverage. it’s not something i put a limit on; you’ll get what you get and i can assure you it’ll be more shots of a singular day in your life than you’d ever imagine or think to need.
as for when you’ll get your gallery, the turnaround time for couple and engagement shoots is 2-3 weeks. for weddings, it's more like 8-10 weeks. sometimes sooner, never later.
i’m located on the land of the dharawal people, south of sydney.
anything within a 2 hour radius of my home base is included within my free travel radius, but i would gladly venture further. in addition to my usual rates, you just need to get me there (ie petty costs / flights + car hire) and keep me there (accommodation) and i'll travel the world for you. please hit me up if you're planning something epic in a faraway land and i’ll get back to you with a travel quote!
a note: to minimise my impact on our earth, i restrict the number of interstate or overseas weddings i shoot to five per year.
a lil bit! bought my first professional camera over a decade ago, shot my first wedding not long after that. i officially launched idlewild in early 2018 when i had a few weddings under my belt.
i hear this a lot. so many people have told me that they’re ‘not photogenic’ or they look ‘awkward in photos’ that i now believe that photogenicism is an inherent part of the human condition. i’ve never captured a human or love that i didn’t think was beautiful, or someone that didn’t deserve to have photographic proof that they were here. i know being in front of a camera can ignite fears and vulnerabilities, but i’m well trained in the noble art of making humans feel safe standing in front of my cameras.
if you really really hate it though and harbour some nerves about being photographed on your wedding day, i’d recommend adding a couples shoot onto your package. it’s a great way to warm up and prove to yourself that you can do this whole photo thing and can enjoy the process and love the end result.
i understand that weddings can get crazy expensive. while i don’t do discounts, i’m more than happy to chat about what options there are for creating custom packages that can fit within the wedding photographer line in that all important budget spreadsheet.
heck yeah ya can! i really recommend it and am always happy to set up a time to meet and get to know each other, either before you book or after you've secured me for your wedding. zoom chats are easy, happy to meet up IRL for a watermelon cold brew at my favourite spot in the city, or anywhere in the shire (the one south of sydney, not the one created by tolkein).
i’d describe my shooting style as ‘if i see it, i shoot it’. words like candid, documentary and authentic also work.
as for my editing style, i’d call it vibrant, true to life and not afraid of the colour green.
